Jodie Grinham is first pregnant woman to win Paralympic archery bronze medal | Pregnant para-archer Grinham secures Paris bronze
Jodie Grinham, 7 months pregnant, wins bronze in archery at Paralympics.
Jodie Greenham, a pregnant para-archer, triumphed over her Paralympic GB teammate and reigning champion Phoebe Patterson Pyne to secure the bronze medal in the women's individual compound event.
This achievement marks Greenham's first individual Paralympic medal since she earned silver in the composite mixed team at the 2016 Rio Games.
After falling behind by two points following the fourth end, Greenham, who is seven months pregnant and hails from Haverfordwest, delivered an impressive score of 29 in the fifth and final end. In contrast, Patterson Pyne scored 26, resulting in a close finish with a tie of 142-141.
"I am extremely proud of my accomplishment, especially given the challenges I have faced," stated the 31-year-old Greenham, who experienced health issues during her time in Paris.
"As long as both my baby and I remain healthy, I was confident in our ability to compete. I believed that if I performed well, I could return with a medal. The baby has been quite active, almost as if it is curious about the excitement around us, reminding me of the support I have within."
Greenham also rejoined the mixed team compound alongside Nathan McQueen on Monday.
