 Dirt Track racing icon Scott Bloomquist killed in plane crash


Scott Bloomquist, a race car driver in Hawkins County's Mooresburg Community, was killed in a small plane crash near his home, according to authorities. The Review was informed by Sheriff Ronnie Lawson that Bloomquist apparently struck a barn on his property and owned a small private air strip near his Mooresburg residence.

The only person in the plane was Bloomquist, one of the most successful dirt track stock car racers ever. The coroner was traveling. Friday morning, at 7:50 a.m., the Bloomquist residence at 209 Brooks Road in Mooresburg received a report of the plane crash.
